Fall Favorites

Fall Favorites

Happy November, friends! In honor of the leaves changing colors and Pumpkin Spice Everything everywhere you look, I decided to do a special fall-themed Favorites post!

1. I was at Hy-Vee last week and got all excited to see fall flavors of the Erin Baker’s Breakfast cookies!

Both the Pumpkin Spice & Gingerbread flavors were tasty! (I included the Double Chocolate because it’s my usual favorite.) These are awesome to grab on a morning when you don’t have time for breakfast but want a little protein boost to start your day with.

2. The second one is food, too, but oh well!

I picked these up on a whim on my last grocery trip (I think they were at Hy-Vee, too? They should totally sponsor me.) The apple butter is good, but the pumpkin butter is *amazing*. It’s a company out of Ohio called Amish Wedding Foods. They have a website if you want to see if they’re available near you!

3.

I know that Halloween was just yesterday, but I already have Thanksgiving dinner ready! Chewy sent us a 24-pack of Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain-Free Thanksgiving Day Dinner Minced in Gravy to review for their Chewy Influencer program, and my cats love it! It’s available in both 3 and 5.5 oz cans, and it really is like Thanksgiving dinner in a can – turkey, gravy, sweet potatoes, peas, and cranberries! And unlike sharing your human food wth the cats on Thanksgiving, this offers balanced nutrition and extra antioxidants for happy, healthy kitties.

4. I got to go see Dolly Parton’s Stampede for the first time in like a decade! They just started their Christmas show, so it was a fun way to kick off the season of red and green being evvvvverywhere.

The craziest thing is that this horse, Nico, has been there since I worked there, and that was 1999-2002!

5. We’ve had amazing weather a few of the days that I’ve worked trail rides lately. It’s been fun to ride along the lake and see all of the leaves changing! And Polka Dot is learning to be a really good guide horse.

Polka Dot saying hi to Ringo the donkey.

That’s it for me today! I’ve taken the day off and have been cleaning pretty much alllll day. I still have laundry and dihes and maybe vacuuming, but then I’m heading over to my neighbor’s house to watch Solo, which we got from Redbox. A nice way to wind down after such a busy week!  (Yesterday I did luggage for a group at the hotel I work at in the morning, and then returned to work front desk from 3-11 pm. Looooong day!)

Hope November is off to a great start for you guys, too!

Friday Favs – End of October

Friday Favs – End of October

Happy Friday, friends! (Assuming I manage to get this up on Friday. I’m currently sitting in my local McDonalds attempting to use the wifi because my home internet is down and I’m out of high speed data on my phone, so trying to troubleshoot it was taking an eternity!)

October feels like it flew by! Probably because I was trying to keep up with all the jobs and all the personal stuff, but somehow we’re here with just a few days to go! I’m really hoping to hold on to nice temps for at least a few more weeks! (The high was only about 50 today, but it’s supposed to be 70 the next couple of days.)

Here’s what I’ve been loving lately! Since I haven’t had time to blog much lately, I have another “Fall Favorites” post coming soon so I can fit a bit more in this month!

1. I usually buy the White Tea Venus razors because they’re somehow the cheapest scent for that brand. I randomly decided to try the Vanilla scent this time, and I LOVE IT. It feels so much smoother than the other kind. I’m a convert!

2. I’ve been wanting to switch to a nice-smelling laundry detergent now that I seem to be losing my fragrance allergies, but I haven’t wanted to drop $10-15 on a new detergent only to hate it. Enter our favorite hero, Target!

I’ve been looking everywhere for mini detergents so I could try new ones, and OF COURSE Super Target has them! I do wish they offered more variety (There were these two plus a Ms Meyer’s that was like $4 for 4 washes worth… pass!), but I was excited to finally find any at all! I got the Method one, so I’ll report back about how it is!

3. Since I participate in Chewy’s Influencer program, I usually have kitty food to list among the month’s favorites, but this week my actual favorite thing is this pair of photos of Bear instead, because my cats didn’t end up liking the food much:

The food (it’s Castor & Pollux Pristine Grain-Free Wild-Caught Whitefish Recipe) does seem to have a kind of spongy texture, so I’m not sure if that’s why most of them didn’t like it? The cats usally love anything with fish, and this one features wild-caught, sustainable tuna so I expected them to love it. Can’t win ’em all, I guess? We get food and treats to review in exchange for honest opinions, but all I can really offer on this one is that the cats just seemed to decide it wasn’t for them. (They LOVED the other food we got this month, so more about that soon!)

4. I saw this on Instagram…

and was delighted to discover that this is apparently a popular phenomenom!

30+ Knock-Off Halloween Costumes That Aren’t Even Trying to Hide Their Shamelessness

I’m going to cut this week’s post short at just 4 things because dealing with Centurylink’s online support chat is (yet again) draining the life out of me. I’m moments away from telling the tech support person that I miss my home and my cats and would appreciate if they’d just give me the info I asked for without taking a million years. So close.

Hope your weekend is great! I’m hoping to take advantage of the warmth by hitting a frisbee golf course before work on Sunday (I’ve played all of once now, so I’m basically an expert). I’ll try to write more about that next time!

Friday Favs – October

Friday Favs – October

Happy Friday, friends! This is the first time I’ve actually managed to get a Favorites post up ON Friday in like a month! Go me!

Here’s what I’ve been loving lately!

1. First things first, I found the best Halloween decoration at the thrift store:

I could leave this up year-round, TBH. My cats will cuddle all intruders.

2. This is a $2 gift bag from the Halloween section of Target:

Is it weird that I want to buy one and frame it as wall art?

3. Season 3 of Serial is out, and I’ve been enjoying it so far. Season 1 (about Adnan) was SO GOOD, then Season 2 was a big let down, but 3 is pretty solid. None of season 1’s “OMG! GASP! No way!” moments yet, but interesting and well put together.

4. Polka Dot has become my go-to trail guide horse, and he’s finally starting to relax and trust me. The above photo is from a ride this week where we were hit with a pretty steady rain about half an hour into a 2 hour ride. The actual rain wasn’t bad, but riding in wet jeans in like 50* weather wasn’t the most fun ever!

After a lot of trial and error, I’ve finally found a saddle and bridle that are super comfy for both me and Polka Dot, which is a big deal. On days like Tuesday where I spent a total of 5 hours in the saddle, a comfortable one makes all the difference!

One amusing story from my Polka Dot adventures: I usually bring up the rear on rides to keep an eye on the guests and make sure nobody falls behind. On one ride, we had paused by a water trough so the horses could drink, and the girl who was riding just in front of me could NOT get her horse to move when we were ready to start again. I can usually kind of nudge a “stuck” horse forward by bringing my horse right up behind them, but that wasn’t working. I jokingly told Polka Dot “Bite her (the horse, not the rider) in the butt!”, and then almost fell off laughing when he reached forward and tried to nip her! I’m a horse whisperer, y’all. (I also got a sheep to baaaaa back at me this week, but that’s a whole other story.)

5. This song reminds me of how much I love the energy of a big city. I need a dose of that soon!

Have a fantastic weekend! I’m working both days, but that’s just how I roll lately.

Friday Favs on a Monday

Friday Favs on a Monday

Happy Monday, Internet Friends!

I somehow have four jobs now (?!), so I’ve practically disappeared from the blog and social media these past few weeks! I’ll figure it out eventually, right? I was supposed to have Friday off and was planning to do my usual Friday Favs, but I wound up doing a thousand things (including work), so I figured Monday is better late than never!

Here area few recent favorites, and I’ll try to catch you up on everything else soon!

1. Back in August,  found a new place offering trail rides in Branson and went out to review it for my blog.I mentioned to them that I might be interested in part time work if something ever came up. Well, that happened a couple of weeks ago, so now I actually get paid to ride through beautiful terrain on awesome horses a few times a week.

Not a bad gig.

2. Fall stuff is everywhere and I am here for it.

The return of Target birds!

\

Cute bottles at Michael’s. I need to go back and get the black cat one!

3.

Sticking with the fall theme, Chewy sent my cats a 6-pack of Solid Gold Triple Layer Mousse and Shreds with Real Salmon & Pumpkin Wet Cat Food to review for their Chewy Influencer program. Tennyson is my pickiest eater and he LOVED this stuff, so he ended up getting most of them to himself. Each little cup has three layers so your cat gets a variety of flavors and textures in their meal.

4. I’ve started reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

I don’t like the play format as much as the original books (I miss being able to get inside the characters’ heads), but it is nice to be back in that world!

I’m going to cut the list short at just 4 things for today. See you again on Friday with a less late Favs post!

Friday Favs – September

Friday Favs – September

Happy Friday, friends!

.I’ve been SO busy with my new job this week that I haven’t had much time for anything else, but I’m excited about all of the fall stuff that’s showing up in stores!

Here’s what I’ve been loving lately!

1. I finally gave in and started playing the Hogwarts Mystery game last week, and of course I’m totally addicted. I am, of course, a Ravenclaw.

Nerd.

If you do play, be sure to connect the game to your Facebook profile. I’d been playing about a week and finally looked up tips online and saw that the game apparently has a huge tendency to randomly reset, so when you open it to continue your game, it instead acts like you’re starting a brand new game. I’m SO glad I read the tip, because I’d just connected my account on Monday morning, and when I opened it again a few hours later, it opened to the character creation screen. I would have been so sad to lose an entire week of progress!

Do any of you guys play? Any fellow Ravenclaws in the house?

2. Speaking of HP, Pottery Barn has a whole new Harry Potter-themed collection, and I need so many of the items in my life ASAP.

Glow in the dark Marauder’s Map pillow? YES PLEASE.

Of course, Pottery Barn gonna Pottery Barn, so everything is super expensive (as in $30 for a pillowcase). And then you get gems like this:

Hello, please admire my $200 beanbag chair.

(If you scroll down, you learn it’s $139 if you just want the slipcover, $239 if you want the beanbag insert inside. I’m pretty sure you could just buy some nice gold fabric and a regular beanbag chair and make your own for like $50 at the most.)

3. PUMPKIN SPICE IS HERE.

I tried to make my first PSL of the season pic more interesting with a rad robot background, but I’m still pretty basic. Oh well.

4. Allow me to present the best image I encountered on the internets this week:

Apologies for not knowing the original source.

5. I don’t have a #5 yet and I need to get ready for work, so shoutout in advance to the huge amount of sleep I plan to do when I finally get a day off!

Hope your weekend is lovely!
